Worked example
You pay $600 a month on Angi and get 20 leads. You win 20% of them, and an average job pays $1,500.
Cost per lead: $600 ÷ 20 = $30. Jobs won: 20 × 20% = 4. Cost per won job: $600 ÷ 4 = $150.
In a year that’s $7,200 on leads. Your own LeadsToBids website is $129 a year on the yearly plan, about 1 won job a year.
Angi, Thumbtack, Yelp and HomeAdvisor are trademarks of their owners. LeadsToBids is not connected to them. This calculator only uses the numbers you type in.
How the math works
- Cost per lead = monthly spend ÷ leads per month.
- Jobs won = leads × the % you win.
- Cost per won job = monthly spend ÷ jobs won. This is the number that really matters.
- Yearly spend = monthly spend × 12.
Questions
What is a good cost per lead for a contractor?
It depends on your trade and how much a job pays. A better way to look at it is cost per won job: if a job pays you $1,500 and each won job costs you $300 in leads, a fifth of the money from that job went to the lead site.
Does this calculator save my numbers?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or saved.
Why compare with my own website?
A lead site charges you again every month, and the customer belongs to the platform. Your own website keeps working for you, and the requests from it come only to you. Many contractors use both.
Are the LeadsToBids prices real?
Yes. They come from our current price list. The ads add-on is optional and separate from the website, and is marked “coming soon” while it isn’t available yet.
