What makes a contractor website get calls

  • Calling you takes one tap. Most people look up a contractor on their phone. Put your number at the top of every page as a tap-to-call link, not only in a picture.
  • Asking for a quote is easy. A short form (name, phone, what they need, a photo) catches people who can’t call during the day.
  • It says where you work. List the cities you serve. A page for each city helps you show up for searches like “plumber in Pasadena”.
  • It shows proof. Real reviews, your license number and photos of your work help a homeowner trust you before they call.
  • It speaks your customers’ language. If many of your customers speak Spanish, a Spanish version means they don’t have to guess.
  • Google can read it. A clear page title and description, plus business info (name, phone, area), help Google show the right page.

Example score

A site on https that works on phones, with tap-to-call, a visible phone number, a quote form, reviews, a service area, a good title and description, a light homepage and a Google listing link, but no Spanish version and no LocalBusiness data, scores 86 out of 100.

What the checker looks at

Each item is worth points. The things that bring calls (a tap-to-call number and a quote form) count the most.

  • Secure address (https) (10 points): Browsers show “Not secure”, which scares customers off. Turn on an SSL certificate (most hosts do it for free).
  • Works on phones (10 points): Most homeowners look you up on a phone.
  • Tap-to-call button (12 points): On a phone, a customer should be able to tap your number and call.
  • Phone number you can see (8 points): Put it at the top of the page.
  • Quote or contact form (12 points): Many customers would rather send a message than call, especially after hours.
  • Spanish version (8 points): In Los Angeles and across California, many homeowners prefer Spanish.
  • Reviews or testimonials (10 points): Homeowners want to see what past customers say before they call.
  • Cities you serve (8 points): Listing them helps you show up when people search “near me” or by city.
  • Page title and description (8 points): These are what Google shows in search results.
  • Business info for Google (LocalBusiness schema) (6 points): Your site doesn’t have LocalBusiness structured data, the hidden business info (name, phone, area, hours) that helps Google understand you.
  • Fast, light homepage (4 points): Slow pages lose visitors on phones.
  • Link to your Google listing (4 points): It makes it easy to find your reviews and directions.

Questions

Is the website checker free?

Yes. It’s free, there’s no sign-up, and you can check any public website, including a competitor’s.

Do you save my website address?

No. We don’t store the address you type or what we find. We only keep an anonymous count of how many checks were run, and a one-way scrambled code of your network address for up to 2 days so one person can’t run hundreds of checks.

Why did it miss something my site has?

The checker reads the page’s HTML, the way search engines first see it. If your phone number is only inside a picture, or your form or reviews load later with JavaScript, the checker may not see them, and Google may not either.

What score is good?

80 or more means the basics are covered. Under 50 usually means homeowners on a phone can’t easily call you or ask for a quote, which is where most jobs start.

Does a high score mean I’ll rank first on Google?

No. The score checks the basics on your own website. Google rankings also depend on your Google Business Profile, reviews, how close you are to the customer and other sites linking to you.
